December 7th 1941 infamy
Attached to that date which will ring through history
The worlds at war already except the U.S.
But with a bang that would change Japan attacked causing stress
In the early morning hours peace pervaded the scene
But Japan sent air craft to start to lay siege
6 of them 300 planes would launch the attack
In three waves to make sure they are completing the task
To the cripple the US fleet they attacked the whole Island
Not just the Harbor the Battle ships are commanding
The Americans don’t suspect not even a thing
This would be disastrous from beginning to end
6:00am it started
183 planes departed
The carriers 200 miles away
North of Oahu US don’t suspect a thing
They were detected on radar but it was cast aside
Mistaken for B-17’s Americans in flight
Japan is now poised to change the course of History
But all they can see is their victory

The first wave proceeds
The harbor left unprotected
The air craft carriers sent to sea
It was a blessing in disguise cause the pending doom
From the skies from Japan dropping bombs soon
Pearl Harbor not on High Alert air planes left vulnerable
Wingtip to wingtip left in the open oh no
This will be devastating once the bombs hit home
The Island peaceful for now at 7:53 that’s gone!
First wave hits home
Val Bombers strike force
Kate torpedo bombers let go
Torpedoes at the anchored
High level bombers hit the towns
Panic starts to set in now
Zero fighters join the attack
To cut resistance down
The second wave shortly after attacks more shipyards and ships
The island in complete chaos don’t understand what this is
Don’t even know who’s attacking until it’s far too late
Battleship row no chance the mighty ships left exposed

USS West Virginia was the first to go
7 Torpedoes in the side of the ship left prone
A 1700 pound bomb pierce the deck Arizona
Igniting it burst into flames casualties are forming
Oklahoma 5 torpedoes California hit with two
Explosions fill the air filled with smoke Oklahoma capsized a tomb
The men are trapped inside hear them banging outside
The harbor still being sieged Japan still flying high
Japanese planes keep strafing by an endless swarm
Explosions and planes buzzing the sound filling the sky
USS Nevada 1 torpedo truck
It managed to make a move before the second wave struck
Maryland and Tennessee managed to escape
They were the only ones on this fateful day
Shaw was hit and lit up in an explosive display
Casualties keep mounting for the US its rough
At 9:00 am the second wave of the Japanese arrived
Brining more devastation to the harbor this time
The whole Island in a panic the hospitals fill up
And in the chaos Japanese citizens rounded up
This wave met more resistance but it wasn’t enough
The only thing to stop them was lack of targets not enough
How could this happen caught off guard
Too late to respond it would seem a loss
They called back their third wave confident in victory
A reprieve for the Island the US Navy it seems
By the end of the attack 8 battleship put down
Air fields across the islands lay in ruins beat down
2400 lives lost both women and men
Washington was in the dark about the events
Roosevelt faced with this plight
Tragedy it can’t be right
He would make a declaration
Stars and stripes must fight
To now declare war after a long hold out
Empowered Churchill the British had an ally
That could tip the scales in their favor this time
Hitler is ecstatic declaring war feeling fine
All this started by a desperate daring raid
The US cut supplies to Japan no more trade
So they felt compelled to attack to secure
Much needed resources most paramount was fuel
Pearl Harbor devastating but it stirred them to fight
Revenge on their minds in their hearts taking flight
Setting sail and marching to Europe and Africa
The US now make their mark on the war fighting tough
The Pacific theater would be contested fiercely
Mighty minds would clash for control of the seas
Nimitz verse Yamamoto the air craft carrier the key
Changing naval warfare and the worlds destiny

Battle Of The Coral Sea
10:24
|
|
||
Japan seeks control of the Pacific indeed
The Coral Sea is the stage for a fight never seen
Before in the history of Naval warfare
This fight will go a long way towards victory their aware
Japan successfully attacked and controlled key points
In Early 1942 the Philippines and more
Inflicting lots of casualties on the allied troops their
They looked to make more moves towards Australia they dare
Port Moresby the Japanese look to invade and secure
Operation MO commanded by Inoue
By way of Yammamotto secure the port by May 10th
Tulagi also would be seized May 2nd and 3rd begin
To set up a sea base for future operations
In the South Pacific quite possibly an invasion
After MO move to RY
Securing Fiji Nauru
Yammamoto sent support
While planning attacks on Midway in June
Unbeknownst to Japan the US Navy knew their codes
For many years they successfully cracked many words
America and the British start to learn of MO
By way of intercepted messages their starting to know
The possible location where the IJN will attack
Port Moresby they settle on prepared to fight them back
Admiral Nimitz would spare nothing setting up defense
Sending four Carrier fleets to the battle tense
The battle is staging
Their ready for engagement
Plans are devised
History in the making
Coral Sea is the Battle
Pacific War heating up
Naval power tested
When the seas are rough
Imperial Japan
Expand the Empire
America Australia
Must extinguish the fire
Late April the gathering storm set to break
The Japanese sent two subs to scout out potential threats
But they found not a thing their path clear to Morseby
Their path clear through the bays leading to Talagi
Rear Admiral Abe had 11 transports with 5,000 men
From the 3rd Kure force 1 light cruiser and 6 destroyers
Joining Abe was Kajioka to make the Moresby strike force
Looking to arrive May 10th so they set their course
Tulagi strike force was lead by Admiral Shima
Minelayers, Minesweepers, sub chasers, Destroyers
Supporting them the carrier Shoho one destroyer four cruisers
Commanded by Aritomo ensure they werent the losers
Gunboats also joined the group the Island taken May 4th
The plan was for them to join the attack on the Port
Subs were sent as a scout line to watch the Coral Sea
But Commander Fletcher for the Allies already past unseen
The Coral Sea is set right now
The worlds changing
The Coral Sea is set right now
Stop the invasion
May 3rd Shimas forces arrive Tulagi
Begin to disembark almost immediately
Through the water of the shallows Japans forces arrive
With no resistance not at all slight surprise
See the Allied Garrison had left just before
Shima and his men arrived with their force
They would build a sea base Shoho would cover them
Until Goto and his men left to help with Moresby
Fletcher was notified of the Japanese success
So he would change course to launch an attack course set
Towards Guadalcanal set to attack the next morning
History watches this day when Fletchers men start Swarming
May 4th 60 planes launched from their Carriers
Like Yorktown which surprised a Japanese Destroyer
With heavy fire sinking the ship they called Kikuzuki
American plane downed but rescued from the sea
On a collision course both Carrier fleets
Takagi and Fletcher now destine to meet
In the Coral Sea a game of cat and mouse played
Takagi trying to get in range maneuvering every way
Fletcher thought the carrier fleets would be close to the invasion
So they would stop to refuel then precede unchanging
Unaware Takagis fleet was near just out of range of sight
American scout craft failed to detect them right
Takagi began to refuel knowing a battle approaches
And bad weather hindered them from an attack they notice
So they keep on refueling a calm settles in now
Over the seas that soon erupts when the carriers found
Carrier to Carrier the first in warfare see
May 7th 1942 etched in History
The morning of May 7th Fletcher dispatched
A force of Carriers and Destroyers to block the pass
At Jormard it was a risk that he had to take
To make sure Morseby doesn’t happen while he’s engaged
Fletcher thought Takagi and his men were east of the Louisades
So he dispatched his planes to locate them there
Meanwhile Takagi was 300 miles East of Fletcher
Believed Fletcher was located south of him no matter
Takagi dispatched so did admiral Goto
Meanwhile both sides prepared to launch the rest of their men you know
Shokaku reported that it found the American fleet
But they were mistaken those ships were for refueling
An oiler and Destroyer was really what they found
But confident in their scouts they sent 78 planes down
But confusion would set in another Carrier sighted
By Furutaka to the South so divided
They would proceed attacking North but turn their ships South
To try and cover all bases and relieve the doubt
The Americans on Yorktown also made a mistake
Thinking they found the invasion force well on their way
The problem wasn’t the fact they located them their
It was in fact the Morseby invasion force they should care
But the reports misidentified just how many ships
This led to Fletcher believing this was Japans Carrier fleet
So he sent all air craft towards this location
At 10:00 am ready to bring hell amazing
Neither side could pin point each other in the sea
The main carriers of both getting closer drifting
Takagis forces arrived at Neosho and Sims
And realized their mistake immediately send
Communication back to Takagi he ordered them to strike
Attack both ships quickly then return back to their side
Sims was a Destroyer four dive bombers struck
It broke in half and sunk killing all but 14 men enough
Neosho an Oiler hit a bomber with their guns
It crashed into the ship badly damaging it stayed afloat and one
North of Misima Island the attack on Shoho begins
Led by the carriers Yorktown and the Lexington
The ship protected by cruisers and 8 planes
But Lexington would hit Shoho with torpedoes and bombs
Severe damage was dealt then Yorktown struck
Scoring 11 more hits tearing the ship apart
And she sank at 11 o’ clock Goto withdrew his ships
Sending one destroyer back for survivors he did
So much depends on this battle x2
So much depends on this battle as the first day winds down
Darkness will soon set in keeping both sides around
Confusion did reign supreme the rest of the day
Both carrier fleets were close but just out of range
Both sides’ planes circled the area around the Port
The American led by Crace were closing in so close
As night fell Japanese planes were intercepted by Fletcher
Surprise attack shooting them down using cover so clever
Commander Fletcher had the cover of conditions
Overcast skies concealing as night falls his position
Both sides knew the next day would prove to be decisive
Choosing to shut down operations as the skies blackened
The crews exhausted try to sleep a few hours
Before the morning when the battle will ignite around them
Fletcher learned is oiler had been damaged no
Hours tick by on the Ocean then once again here we go
At 8:00 am the next day the Japanese were spotted
Through a hole in the clouds certainly were spotted
2 minutes later the Japanese found the Americans
Both sides ready their attack the Port invasion depends
On the outcome of this fight the invasion force awaits
East of Woodlark Island as the Carriers brace
For contact America got their planes oingff first
B lining towards the ships fly possessed or cursed
Yorktown and Lexington launched 75 planes
Bombers, Torpedoes, and fighters ready to engage
The Japanese sent 69 craft of their own
The skies above the sea are now filling up
10:57 Yorktown’s planes struck hitting Shokaku hard
Damaging its flight decks severely scared
Lexington’s planes struck next with one direct hit
Leaving the ship badly damaged with casualties it did
Japans flight crew proceeded now to fly through
The Americans tried to intercept them flying low altitude
So they missed because the planes flew right over head
Closing in on Yorktown and Lexington hold your breath
Here we go at 11:10 the Japanese they attacked
Dogfights around the ships planes are being shot down fast
All torpedo bombers missed Yorktown unsuccessful
But a pincer movement would trap Lexington in their hold
Now the dive bombers closed in two hit Lexington
Yorktown hit in the center piercing four decks explode
Igniting ammunition stores causing critical damage
Killing or wounding 66 men around them
Two dive bombers were shot down the Japanese turned
Thinking they critical wound both ships they won
As both sides’ planes returned they crossed on and other
The Arial duels caused more damage asunder
Both sides began to assess all their losses
American was able to restore both their ships falsely
Cause the Lexington kept catching fire subsequent explosions
Left it weakened she was sunk by Japan torpedoes
The Japanese also suffered heavily
But one carrier was unscathed by the fight it seems
But both sides low on fuel decided to retire
Not a clear victory for either side no one’s higher
This battle lead to Japan calling of the Moresby invasion
Keeping supply lines between the allies open
Also Yammoto lost two of his carriers
Hindering his plans to attack at Midway yes sir
Japan victorious in terms of ships they sunk
But strategically the outcome favored the allies because
They kept the Coral Sea open for future operations
The Battle came to an end yet the wars still raging

Midway
10:10
|
|

Expand the Pacific is what Japan needs
The plan not specific precision is the key
Pearl Harbor the Coral Sea set the stage you see
For one last decisive battle that leads to victory
Midway would be this battle all cards on the table
All or nothing for Yammamotto is what he believed
Control of the Pacific Japan looked to make moves
Striking at key points throughout tactically they choose
Wake Island, Guam, and Luzon
They strike and hit with a mighty storm
Air supremacy would mean their invasions went well
Thrusting further into China with them bringing hell
Malaya and The Philippines were next in their sight
Landing with numbers so fierce who could stand to fight
Hong Kong would soon fall into Japanese hands
Controlling most of the Pacific to meet supply demands
Borneo was invaded followed by Celebes
Lighting raids on Port Darwin in Australia next
Sumatra was occupied it seems no one can resist
Except on last threat America was this
However in just 3 months Japan manage to gain
Control of a quarter of the Ocean Japan Reined
Supreme for now but epic battles loom
Over the seas on the tide that is changing soon
Despite all their success in securing their goals
Which included oil and a defensive halo
One major threat remained from Pearl Harbor
3 carriers of America escape the Slaughter
These carriers were now the strength of a counter attack
Which had Japan on edge trying to hold them back
The plan was to lure the carriers to one major fight
Decisively securing victory in a swift move right
Preparations were already underway
By April 1942 ships away
Two nation’s destinies collide out on the open waves
America and Japan fight as long as it takes
America first launched a daring attack
On the Japanese capital Tokyo Japan
Hornet and Enterprise penetrated deep
Within 820 miles and remained unseen
April 18th the Doolittle raid was launched
16 bombers to drop bombs on Japan at once
All but one plane would make it back once their done
Striking blows at the heart of the Rising sun
The raid did little tactical damage indeed
But it forced the Japanese to rethink strategy
To protect the emperor they must expand you see
Their mighty empire and crush the enemy
So backed by Tojo Yammomoto’s navy would strike
At Midway Island to destroy American might
Take their carriers down send them below the waves
Control the Pacific win the war in days
Capturing Midway give the Japanese a strategical point
To launch attacks on Pearl Harbor the American force
Stationed there would be lured heading towards midway
And ultimately their doom the Japanese they think
Diversion Ambush and Invasion
Were the Japanese tactics leave America’s fleet blazing
Out on the open ocean decimation
Was their main objective on the seas unchanging
So 1st the Japanese dispatch recon submarines
South of Pearl Harbor and between Midway to seek
Out the American carriers as they left the harbor
To coordinate the attack from their main fleet farther
Out in the ocean near the Marianna’s
The Japanese launched an occupation force alarming
Headed towards midway to destroy defenses
They were followed by the main attack force ships seemingly endless
To the North a strike force head to the Aleutian Islands
To lure the Americans split them up divide them
Weakening their defense of midway in effect
The Japanese would gain the upper hand causing America stress
Then they could be encircled and finished off
But the Americans wouldn’t go for the bait at all
They deciphered the Japanese naval code
So they knew Midway was their main objective and goal
They would ignore the Aleutian attack in all
A devastating blow to the Japanese cause
But they had no idea that their plans were known
So they proceeded confident unaware of the coming storm
In the form of three carriers Yorktown class
Yorktown, enterprise, and Hornet the last
Carrying wildcats and dauntless dive bombers
Poised to decimate the Japanese carriers upon them
Despite all of this the Japanese carrier fleet
Was considered the strongest in the world
As they steam towards midway they are confident
That no matter what they face they will endure
4 carriers
Kaga, Akagi
Hiryu, Soriyu
Were the might of the empire personified
Elite pilots man the planes the ships carry inside
Zero fighters, Kate torpedoes, and Val dive bombers
Would match the Americans in the skies swarming
Once again carriers taking center stage
The new era of naval warfare is here
Midway Midway
Midway Midway
Midway Midway
Midway Midway
Lugomo’s strike force fast approached midway
Followed by Yammotto’s fleet
No cloud cover left them exposed
To recon planes overhead unseen
June 3rd a Catalina plane spot the Japanese
Followed by more spotting’s all throughout the scene
Meanwhile America’s carriers were informed
And began to head south to meet japan head on
June 4th the Japanese close in on midway
And prepare to launch an attack this day
The men are aware the fate of the empire
Rest on their shoulders as they take
Off from the carriers 108 planes
Were sent to attack midway bombs away
The US spot the Japanese exactly where they thought
Prepared to launch a counter attack at once
Midway was emptied of its planes
They were sent to meet the Japanese and engage
Defending the island from the bombers some way
But the bombers broke through to attack anyway
The Japanese bombs target oil fields and Hangars
With devastating effect fires were raging
Despite all of this the Japanese knew
They would need a second wave to attack and soon
Meanwhile the Japanese carriers came under attack
10 American bombers suddenly attacked
But they were met by Zero fighters and shot down fast
Only 3 American plans would survive in tact
The Japanese were holding strong at least for now
But America had a strike force bearing down
Towards the Japanese position the battles raging now
Akagi was the first carrier targeted by hornets torpedo dive bombers
But they were cut down and obliterated by zero fighters quickly calmly
Enterprise and Yorktown bombers were next to attack but they were also struck down
No enemy ships were hit the Japanese unscathed at least for now
The Japanese were preparing to launch their force but lurking high in the clouds Dauntless dive bombers
Screamed down and pounced from all around the carrier Kaga struck with a bomb what now
A direct hit on aircraft that were armed and ready
Three more bombs hit the ship so devastating
Igniting fuel and bombs in the ship internal
Leaving the carrier destroyed in an inferno
Back at Akagi zero fighters were preparing to launch but at that moment Dauntless bombers descend on
Top of them the first bomb struck mid ship and exploded in the hangar it’s gone
The next bomb struck the aircraft on its deck
Igniting fuel and bombs killing the elite pilots there
The fire spread across the ship the flagship doomed
The attack just starting japan is facing doom
Soryu was hit next by the dive bombers
Three bombs hit the flight deck now the ships a goner
One struck at the rear another penetrated deep
Igniting bombs and torpedoes and turning up the heat
A final bomb struck the rear deck completely destroying
The awaiting strike force before they could get going
In 5 minutes the mighty carrier fleet
Of Japan obliterated sinking into the sea
Hiryu was the only carrier that was left
Immediately launched they strike force upset
Still hoping they could deal America a blow
24 planes cut across the sky target was set
Yorktown the flagship of the American fleet
The flew towards with intent to stave off defeat
Yorktown detected Hiryu’s planes
And were ready with Wildcats to intercept engage
The Japanese and Americans would meet in the sky
Japanese bombers met the wildcats they fight
The Wildcats shot down 10 of the enemy bombers
But the remainder broke through towards Yorktown alarming
They released their bombs onto Yorktown’s decks
3 bombs hit the ship exploding causing unrest
The fires that were a result though were quickly put out
Remarkably an hour later Yorktown’s fighters were launched
A second wave from Hiryu was now unleashed
Heading straight towards Yorktown once again believe
Because of lack of smoke the ship was mistaken
For one of its sister ships amazing
After fighting through the wildcats 4 Kates survived
To drop their bombs on the ship in sight
Two bombs hit portside with an explosion
And one bomber deliberately crashed on the deck exploding
Abandon ship was the order for Yorktown’s crew
The ship was lost but the battle would be ending soon
Because recon caught wind of Hiryu’s position
Enterprise and Hornet launched an attack a mission
To deal the final blow Hiryu unaware
That they have been spotted as they arm and prepare
Suddenly from the sun the dive bombers appear
The ship maneuvered violently but the bombs hit clear
Two bombs blew the number one lift of the ship clean off
The whole forward deck on fire everything’s a loss
Two more bombs hit exploding igniting bombs and fuel
Violent explosion killing most of the Japanese pilot it’s true
The ship was now doomed the Japanese have lost
Their last carrier ship so what is the cost
The cost is dominance in the Pacific skies
In effect in one day the war they lost
June 5th Yamomotto ordered complete withdraw
America won decisively all in all
Midway

Guadalcanal
07:53
|
|
||
Guadalcanal fierce intense ruthless warfare
The Japanese stationed must be removed there
They have built an airfield standing menacing
They could cut supply lines from the Australians
That were vital to the allied Pacific fleet
And the men stationed throughout the region see
So the plan of action is clear to the higher ups
Invade the island Guadalcanal though it will be tough
The Japanese have no intentions of surrendering
In fact it’s against their culture to even think of it
The warrior spirit would soon be on display
To the horror of the marines tasked to make them fade
Even though they were defeated back at midway
They still fight on intense protect the emperors way
They still control most of the ocean there’s no giving up
So the war keeps on raging into the jungles rough
The US marines were still in training
Most haven’t seen battle can’t comprehend what is waiting
At Fiji the operation would be practiced
It’s a logistical nightmare many clashes
No coordination between the men involved
But time is of the essence there’s no time to stall
August 7th was the day and there’s no changing that
Move up and move out into the battle fast
The plan was to sail from Fiji to the Solomon’s
Then to the channel to north of the island main
Support groups would take Talagi, Neuvutu, Tamanboga
While the main force hit the beach of Guadalcanal northern
They would be supported by Admiral Crutchley
Australian Navy and US carriers lovely
So they would have protection on their side
As they storm the unknown the Japanese hide
The US head into the great unknown
The environment of the island would be deadly alone
Tropical jungles heat that is stifling
Disease and there’s no comfort to confide in
Not to mention the 7,000 Japanese there
With weapons and a will to fight death they do not fear
Carnage would be the word to describe it all
Both sides are prepared to make the others fall
Red Beach Guadalcanal August 7th
The Marines meet no resistance as they proceed the invasion
However chaos on the beach supplies were everywhere
They need to coordinate regroup before they move from there
At days end they were moving towards the Japanese airfield
On schedule or ahead with no resistance still
But at Talagi fierce resistance was felt
By Kernel Edson and his men especially when night fell
Day 2 Guadalcanal the marines have pushed west
To secure the airfield their original quest
They renamed Henderson after a Midway hero
But where was the enemy no sign of them no
They fled to the hills so the objective achieved
By the Marines in two days few losses relieved
But all of this was premature the Japanese had plans
To send in reinforcements bringing hell with them
Due to tactical decisions and lack of resources
The 1st Marine division was left to fend for themselves
So they were set upon the task to complete the airfield
Vandergift knew it’s an asset if completed that’s real
Japanese planes the whole time circled overhead
And they had few resources at their disposal not fair
But they kept on working in the tough conditions
Disease was setting in the ranks slowing down the mission
Now the Japanese were ordered to take back the island
Moving troops rapidly in the night so timely
The Tokyo express would bring in waves of men
Successfully two units landed to the east and west
On the night of August 18th they would descend upon
The Marines position ready to take them on
Ichiki’s men by the 20th reached Alligator creek
The edge of the air field take it back they seek
As night fell the Japanese launched their attack
Fiercely with a charge at the Americans fast
They ran into Machine guns poised to cut them down
And artillery fire exploding all around
The survivors withdrew but only to regroup
And hurl themselves back into battle devastatingly true
Their courage wasn’t enough and by the next afternoon
They found themselves surrounded by the Marines they’re doomed
The battlefield was a slaughter the victory was total
800 of the 900 Japanese lay dead
Bodies covered the battlefield no ground was exposed
Carnage everywhere x3 you go
The fight was far from over more Japanese arrived
On the island to the east and the west every night
So the Americans sent paratroopers and men of their own
And headed east to Tasimbako where the enemies strong
Their intelligence was right after a small engagement
They took the village but the main force escaped them
Because the Japanese 35th brigade went south
Heading into the jungle to return no doubt
Kawaguchi’s men in fact now had plans
To attack the airfield from the north where a ridge did stand
Vandergift anticipated so the Marines were there
Waiting for them The Battle of bloody Ridge
Japanese artillery proceeded the attack
Followed by a fierce push by the Japanese pushed back
The Marines at first before they could regroup
And take the fight back to them so they couldn’t break through
The night of September 13th the island was consumed in war
A fierce charge by the Japanese at the American core
Artillery fire explosions Machine guns riddled the land
Mowing down countless bodies but they aren’t giving in
12 times the Japanese rush the American line
In an act of desperation oh how desperate the fight
From both sides no giving this is the terror of war
Bodies are strewn across the battlefield and there’s just more and more
Everywhere
The ridge was covered in bodies everywhere
By the next morning Kawaguchis men
Were fleeing to the east far from there
The Americans had held firm and strong
Through relentless combat they had won
But not with losing countless men of their own
Everywhere this war seems wrong
Here we go the fight is far from over
The Japanese have reinforced their men bolder
They would now hatch a plan a two pronged attack
From the west and the south and this would be their last
October 22nd battle of Henderson field
Announced by a barrage of naval guns it’s real
The Americans ferociously returned fire
Raining down on the Japanese this fight is dire
Despite the determination of the Japanese
They were repulsed quickly the western front you see
They were fighting all alone cause the south advance
Was slowed by the Jungle cutting through no chance
The southern forces had to abandon crucial weaponry
This would prove to be fatal oh you best believe
The Marines once again managed to win
Another bloody showdown the smell of death is here
Blood everywhere, death everywhere
The beginning of Island to Island combat it’s clear
That to push the Japanese empire push them back
More blood would be shed on other islands the path
The 9th of February Guadalcanal secured
For the Marines after 9 months of brutal fighting there
The Japanese won’t give in no surrendering
Before more life is lost, its war that fact is clear
No surrender!

Iwo Jima!
The next Island to gain control
The next step towards the Japanese front door
To capture it would mean the US had a place to launch
Bombing raids on the mainland of the rising sun
But dug in on the island countless Japanese
Fortified and dug in oh you best believe
They have no intention of surrendering
Kill the marines their sole goal and it’s frightening
Volcanic ash black sands across the beach head
Waiting for the marines put them to the test
All around the pacific they are gaining ground
Seize control of the Marianna’s there’s no stopping now
And the siege Truk Atol dealing major blows
To imperial Japan their end is soon you know
But more blood is left to spill in the island chains
More blood and that’s just real when your tryna gain
February 19th 1945
The marines approach the island their landing crafts arrive
The silence here a contrast to the days before
When the Island was bombarded naval ship guns roared
And plans overhead also dropped their bombs
But now as the men approach it’s an eerie calm
At 8:59 the Marines disembarked
Their landing craft onto the beaches clear the beach to start
But awaiting them 15 foot slopes of ash
So movement was slow at best and soon they’d need to move fast
Explosion after explosion filled the air
Suddenly the enemy presence there now well aware
The Japanese plan was simple let the beaches crowd up
Then open fire from all sides bodies pile up
Gun fire explosions now fill the air
Screams from the dyeing all around smell of death and fear
Mount Sarabachi on the island dominated the scene
Artillery rained down from their a chaotic scene
Pill boxes fortifications dot the featureless land
The Japanese dug tunnels to conceal their men
The marines keep on pushing over ridge after ridge
Desperately trying to fight back trying to fight and live
Smoke is filling up the skies the US slowly gain ground
But casualties are mounting and it’s all around
Frustrating was progress it was slow at best
Clear a bunker then the Japanese return again
Through extensive tunnels that are carved throughout the land
The task is so arduous no one can understand
Flamethrowers and grenades cast into a ditch
The enemy screams are clear burning flesh is seared
No remorse there’s no time must achieve their goals
Capture the airfield and the mountain before anyone goes
The marines reach the edge of airfield one
From gun slits ahead the Japanese fire guns
They must clear these positions by any means
So they employ stinger machine guns end the enemy’s dreams
Burst of fire rapidly cutting the enemy down
They also charge at the marines from all around
That warrior spirit they swore to defend
For every one of them that die kill 10 American men
Back to the west the marines look to secure the Mount
Sarabachi where the Japanese have the higher ground
They charge across the barren land with no cover at all
To the Japanese position many marines fall
At the base of the mountain machine gun nests
And trenches for miles the Japanese contest
Close quarters combat of the fiercest kind
Both sides fighting to survive but the odds are blind
Progress on the right flank was slow indeed
At a place called the Quarry the Japanese
Resistance was fierce the 25th marines men
900 reduced to 150 by days end
Mortars explode all around men are losing limbs
The nightmare of this fight resonates again
But more and more men are now on their way
The Japanese a matter of time before they fade
When night fell the Japanese emerged from darkness
To attack the marines suddenly regardless
Kuribayashi forbid bonsai attacks
So they stayed to their tunnel strong holds at that
And kept fighting endlessly refusing to come out
So flamethrowers and grenades were used to flush them out
The Japanese grew desperate as food and water ran out
So more nighttime attacks were used but cut down
Sarabachi marines from easy company
Climb to the mountain summit rather easily
With old glory in their hands a defining moment
They mount it to a pole and raise it high above them
They still hadn’t completely secured the point
But this symbol would go on to symbolize the war
Beneath their the Japanese remain dug in
Were maddened by this display began emerging
From the caves all around they desperately attack
The marines of E company fight to hold them back
A Japanese officer charges with a sabre
Surprises the Marines unsettling behavior
With a hail storm of grenades they fight for the mount
Blast after blast resistance is cut down
The Marines take the mountain one objective reached
But to the North battles loom more battles you see
To the North the Japanese held a tough position true
Hill 382 Hill 362
The meat grinder it was called the marines fought hard
But attacks were fierce so unrelenting they are
Secure a position just be attacked from the flank
The use of tunnels for the Japanese effective again
Cross fire stopping tanks as well as mines in the ground
Casualties were mounting up the dead all around
The objective was clear take airfield 2
And wipe out all resistance on there through
But Karibyuasha and his men were determined to kill
As many marines as they could till the very end
They knew the tactics of the Americans well
Bombardment followed by infantry charge real
So they hid underground during raids then emerged
Unaffected to inflict more damage in turn
The marines change tactics and in the cover of night
Charge the Japanese position there’s no airstrike tonight
Taking by complete surprise killed most still asleep
It was a crucial turning point taking the northern airfield
Both hills would be captured but fighting remained
Pockets of resistance in the tunnels nightly engage
Inflicting more casualties’ one concern remained
The command post to the northwest take it away
March 21st the Marines destroy the command post
The 24th seal all the caves victory seems close
However on the 25th one last attack was made
Led by Karibuyasha 300 men they say
Pilots Marines and Seabees fight for over an hour
Suffering many casualties in the process don’t cower
Hold strong and they did destroy this final resistance
Karubuyasha was killed somewhere along the instance
March 26th the island was declared secure
The airfields could now be used to strike and deal
Blows at Japan itself closing in on them
Iwo Jima really tested the heart and soul of men
The 147th regiment would begin
Slowly sweeping the island with flamethrowers grenades
6,000 more Japanese would be killed in the end
The island of Iwo Jima left smoldering
The Black sands

Typhoon Of Steele
06:53
|
|||
April 1st 1945
US Marines landed to take the fight
To the Japanese soldiers awaiting them
Determined to defend the island any way they can
Okinawa the last of the island chain
Leading straight to Japan launching bombing raids
The Japanese fight fierce backs against the wall
Suffering heavy casualties for the emperors cause
Operation Iceberg the Typhoon of Steele
A largescale assault by the allies for real
To capture the island gave them a base to build
Air facilities to bomb the mainland instill
Fear into the hearts of the Japanese and kill
Any hope for victory end the war they feel
But first fierce combat would claim lives surreal
On a scale so massive 82 days no chill
The 10th army landed on the Hagushi beaches
April fools Easter Sunday no resistance believe it
Diversionary tactics were performed elsewhere
To draw attention from the main invasion there
They swept across the island to the North with ease
Capturing two air basses within hours you see
Kedema and Yomitan taken with light resistance
General Buckner moves to phase 2 in an instant
They move to take Northern Okinawa seize
Heading up Ishikawa bringing hell with them
By the 7th of April Motobu was sealed
And the Japanese soldiers were cornered there
Mountainous terrain and hills featured every where
Fighting intense ferocious death will take you here
Yae-Dake would be cleared on April 18th
Meanwhile the 77th infantry assault le shima
Kamikaze attacks made the battle dangerous
Local women charged with spears at the Marines they rush
So unsettling the fight explosions followed by screams
Many more destined to die for a hollowed out dream
The marines pushed on losing men causing loss
Gunfire is echoed in the air all across
The entire island and by 21st
Northern Okinawa secured to the south its worse.
The 7th and the 96th crossed the narrow land
Of southern Okinawa fierce fights awaited them
In west central Okinawa east of highway 1
The 96th encountered pockets of resistance strong
The Japanese held positions that were fortified
A place that would come to be known as Cactus Ridge
A place that decides who dies who lives
No giving in keep moving that’s the way it is
The 7th infantry wasn’t faring any better
To the southeast known as the Pinnacle
More fortified positions and it’s critical
That they fight no matter what it’s so integral
1500 soldiers died in the brutal fighting
4500 Japanese killed or captured failing
Is their cause every day that keeps drifting by
But this was only but a taste before the Shuri Line
Faced with more fighting every step more fierce
Close to victory farther away still
At Kakazu Ridge two fortified hills
The Japanese hid in caves many marines are killed
Civilians caught in the flames forced to gather supplies
The evilness of this war again personified
The marines wouldn’t be stopped but at the cost of life
Sacrifice for more gain there’s no end in sight
General Ushijima would launch an offensive
On April 12th in the evening fighting back in an instant
Well organized and sustained a nightmare amassed
For the US Marines trying to hold them back
They would retreat eventually only just to repeat
The assault the next night staving off defeat
April 14th they would mount one last attack
But the overwhelming fire power of theMarines held fast
April 9th the 27th infantry landed on west
To join the 96th and 7th General Hodge will contest
Heavily the Japanese and launch a new attack
A bombardment so fierce would proceed the clash
The largest one the Pacific theater has seen
Naval ships roared and planes over head would scream
Dropping bombs and Napalm but the Japanese were hid
Well protected on the opposite side they missed
Ushijima once again desperate to strike back
With an amphibious assaults behind the Marines line
They managed to get in the open firing their guns off
But the Marines held strong so once again they lost
No matter what the Japanese do it seems their overwhelmed
But they will not give in bringing hell once again
The end of April and the battle still rages on
But time is ticking out on the Rising Sun
On May 11th the Americans attacked again
10 days of brutal fighting character death and fear
Explosions scream gun fire screams
The pattern of fight desperation is clear
The 96th infantry managed to take Conical Hill
Rising high above the land a key point revealed
Meanwhile the 1st and 6th took Sugar Loaf Hill
Surrounding the Japanese strategically they feel
The monsoon rains fell turning the battlefield traits
Into something more like WW1 they say
The ground turned into mud both sides were mired
Garbage pit a graveyard dead bodies retire
Decay and sink into the mud maggots live in your pockets
After sliding down hills horrifying and noxious
The fighting was sustained though the end is near
Take the Shuri line and Shuri Castle with that fear
Naval ships shelled the castle forcing a retreat
By the Japanese their taken with relative ease
They tactically would retreat successfully in the night
Using the advantage of the rains and darkness alike
30,000 Japanese escape to the last line
At Kiyan Peninsula no surrender in sight
Slaughter would rule the day in this place so sad
Including civilians caught in between the brutal clash
4,ooo Japanese sailors committed suicide
In the tunnels dug in yes they would rather die
Than be captured by the advancing US Marines
Generals die on both sides Buckner and Ushijima
June 21st the last resistance of Japan fell under
The bloodiest pacific battle by number
240,000 dead on both sides the fall
Of Japan is emanate
Soon
The Bombs
Will
Fall!

I am become Death
07:56

From 1931-1945 this wars dragged on
This war cost lives
On a scale that couldn’t be comprehended
Never before and never since it’s ending
A rumor is started about a secret weapon
So powerful destruction in a second
Devised in a lab so curious it’s sad
Progress for the sake of driving the whole world mad
Invade Japan that’s really what their facing
More death and carnage can’t justify its amazing
Cause women men and children would fight in the streets
The US knew that ever close to victory
Sacrifice more Marines but there must be another way
Manhattan is the project the world won’t be the same
Again
In a flash it’s over bring peace we’ll pretend
I am become
I am become
Death
Destroyer of worlds
I am become
Destroyer of Worlds
Nuclear Fission discovered by German Scientist
Made the world fear they would be the first to gain
Nuclear weapon technology
A bomb with the power to change
Everything so the US started research 1939
Oppenheimer heads the research there’s no wasting time
They would develop two bombs destine to blow the mind
Little Boy Fat Man two bombs thousand die
Trinity 1945 July 16th
A test bomb detonated it’s an eerie scene
Visibly shaken Oppenheimer knows the world has changed
For the better maybe not only time will tell
Two cities were selected to feel this wrath
Hiroshima Nagasaki there’s no turning back
Fate has put them in the sights death from the sky
For the people unsuspecting abruptly change their lives
Enola Gay B-29 bomber
Turned into a harbinger of death
Little boy uranium-235
Is the payload it carried in its depths
Tibbets and his men took off from North Field
Six hours flight from Hiroshima set course
Only a few men inside new what the weapon could do
Incinerate it won't even leave a corpse
The city of Hiroshima unsuspecting death
Was looming coming from above no less
It was the site of Field Marshall Hata's
Headquarters so the bomb must be dropped
Right here with stock piles of arms and munitions
It was designated for the flame to rise
Civilians unsuspecting go about their days
350,000 voices will cry
Enola Gay arrived 31,000 feet
Clear visibility the bomb was armed so discrete
All clear was given at 7:09
Tibbets began the bombing run after an hours’ time
Little boy was released then at 8:15
44 seconds it took to fall then explosion release
16 kiloton explosion a bright flash of light
80,000 people died in the bombs cruel might
After the bomb was dropped Truman pleaded and warned
Japan they must surrender unconditional terms
But Japan was defiant determined to fight on
Even after the Soviets attacked and declared war
They would endure more destruction they proceed no fear
Unconvinced the allies could produce more bombs it's clear
So the US prepared their second attack
A bomb named Fat Man stronger and that's a fact
Bockscar under command of Sweeney
Took off August 9th in the sun
Fat Man plutonium isotope bomb
Was the payload carried on this run
Sweeney’s mission identical to Enola Gay
Six hours flying then drop the bomb to blow them away
Kokaru was in fact the main target
Nagasaki was the second if they couldn't started
Nagasaki had industrial importance
Mitsubishi factories ships and planes by the dozen
The city spared firebombing cause it's hard to find
At nighttime so the city functioned at peace so fine
263,000 people there that day
Old fashioned structures across the landscape
Peaceful day unaware of the pending doom
Death is coming and darkness soon
Smoke clouds and lack of fuel meant they couldn't delay
So they proceed to Nagasaki ready to engage
The all clear was given at 10:53
Moments later Fat Man was dropped so keen
47 seconds later the bomb explodes
More powerful than little man it fails to show
The effects were hampered by hillsides
But 35,000 still die and firestorms arise
More bombs were planned in subsequent days
To reap more devastation on the Japanese ways
With the Soviet invasion and the bombs devastation
Hirohito had no choice surrendering engagement
Telling his people the enemy possess
A weapon that could whip out the Japanese nation
So on August 15th surrender was announced
September 2nd ends the war yes all around
It’s over!
